10.5.3 Update!

So, Apple has released it's third update to their relatively new Leopard (Mac OS 10.5) operating system. Reports so far have been fairly positive with a few potentially serious caveats which will be of concern to graphic houses and designers running Leopard and who utilize a centralized server model. Appleinsider is reporting that Adobe Photoshop files that are saved to a server and worked off of from there become unusable even if moved to a local client station afterward. It isn't happening for everyone, but it is being reported. For more details see other areas on AI as well as the usual sites I recommended in my links post.

So what is my recommendation? Hold off on updating to this version if you are a PS user in a Server environment at the very least and watch this The Technophile for further updates on any of the usual Apple info sites.

IMPORTANT NOTE - As with any updates - the best practice is to back up your important data first as well check out any of the sites listed in my links post.

Paths to knowledge...links really

So, where can I go when I'm stumped or just want to keep up with what's going on in the Apple world? I'm often asked this question and there are few amazing sites around the web definitely worth visiting and bookmarking. These are listed on my website, but I will provide some here as well:

Macintouch - I go here everyday - it's my homepage.
Appleinsider - great news and rumour site with excellent and in-depth reviews
Mac Rumors - the name says it all
Google - the venerable search engine - an obvious choice, but wild card searches often yield solutions
MacFixIt - another amazing site for getting help and going to before making any big change to your system
Versiontracker - unbelievable source for everything software
MacUpdate - similar to above - look for daily/weekly and very special deals on software

These are just a few and all have further links on their sites.

Welcome!
